The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, also known as United Nations Women (UN Women), is a United Nations (UN) agency working for the empowerment of women and gender equality economically, politically and socially. The agency supports the governments of UN Member States as they formulate and implement global benchmarks for women empowerment and gender equality. They achieve this by working with these governments and civil society organisations by designing and enacting laws, policies, programmes and services for the betterment of women and girls globally.
Kunal worked on a fundraising and advocacy awareness project on women and child trafficking at the Singapore Committee for UN Women in Singapore. He was responsible for writing a grant proposal for corporate and non-corporate sponsorship for the local committee’s UN Women Youth Arm. In parallel, he was involved in promoting Stop! Sex Trafficking of Women and Young People- a global awareness and petition campaign in partnership with BodyShop, by working at a roadshow, to promote awareness and encourage the signing of petitions to pedestrians on issues pertaining to sex trafficking of women and children. Resultantly, 3 200 petitions were signed over a 4 days drive.
