Asia Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN)
AVPN Conference - 2015
The Asia Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) is a privately run Singapore-based impact investing network committed to connecting prospective investors from the corporate, government and multilateral & bilateral sectors with impact investing and social enterprise companies (and vice versa) for funding and project collaboration throughout the Asia-Pacific Region. AVPN organises networking events, seminars and workshops throughout the region to achieve this goal.
Kunal worked as Session Rapporteur for the 2015 AVPN Conference in partnership with National University of Singapore (NUS) in Singapore, where the aforementioned stakeholders congregated to discuss investments and thematic collaboration in the impact investing space through an agenda of panel discussions, seminars and workshops. For the conference, Kunal wrote up the following session summary reports, which are available upon request:
a) Country Session 3: India- speakers included founders of impact investment firms Dasra (Deval Sanghavi) and Unitus Capital (Eric Savage) and the architect of the New Companies Act 2015, Dr Arun Chatterjee, who discussed the regulations and practices pertaining to impact investing in India.
b) How to set up a Venture Philanthropy Organisation – contextualised within the East Asian landscape.
c) Investment Showcase Part 4- the latter being a session where heads of several start up social enterprises pitched their companies to prospective investors/donors for Investment.
